Persevere to the Kingdom

Discussion

  1. A Heart That Believes

Hebrews warns that people can see God’s works and still develop an “evil heart of unbelief.” Where are you most tempted to distrust God right now, even though you have seen His faithfulness in the past? What might that reveal about what is shaping your heart?

  2. The Deceitfulness of Sin

The sermon says, “Sin never tells you where it is taking you.” What sin, attitude, or compromise can begin to seem harmless when repeated over time? How does sin’s deceitfulness make it difficult to recognize that our hearts are becoming hardened?

  3. Delivered but Not Moving Forward

Israel had been delivered from Egypt but failed to enter the Promised Land because of unbelief. What does their story teach us about the difference between experiencing God’s grace and actually walking forward in faith and obedience? Where might you be tempted to stop at the “edge of the promise”?

  4. “Today”

Hebrews repeatedly emphasizes the word “today.” Why can delayed obedience become spiritually dangerous? Is there something God has already made clear through His Word that you are tempted to postpone dealing with? What would responding to Him “today” look like?

  5. Holding Fast

Hebrews 3:14 says: “For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end.” What does persevering faith actually look like when following Jesus becomes costly? How can we distinguish persevering faith from simply trying harder through our own strength?

  6. We Need One Another

    Readvs.13

What kind of loving correction would you personally find difficult to receive? What makes biblical accountability both necessary and difficult?

  7. Faithfulness and Future Reward

The sermon distinguishes salvation, discipleship, and reward. Salvation is God's gift; discipleship is our calling; reward relates to faithful service. If you genuinely believed that your present faithfulness matters in light of Christ’s coming kingdom and future reward, how might that change the way you view ordinary obedience, suffering, service, and sacrifice?

  8. Your Next Step of Faithfulness

The central call of Hebrews 3 is: Hold fast. What would holding fast to Christ look like in your life during a season when you cannot see the outcome, do not understand what God is doing, or feel weary? What specific step of faithfulness is God calling you to take now?
